It is a big struggle to find the right shade for your skin, especially when there are thousands of shades out there. The trouble with having an Indian skin tone is that you can be anything – fair, dark or wheatish. This has its up sides too it means that if you want to up your skin tone, you can totally choose a different shade of lip color.

1. First and foremost: Get to know your undertone
You must be thinking “but I’m wheatish!” But while choosing your shade, it works only two ways: you either have a warm or yellow undertone or a cooler or pinkish undertone. See the below image to understand it better. To know what is your true undertone check out the veins of your wrist. If they appear bluish then you have a cool undertone, if they appear greenish, you have a warmer one.
2. Getting the color right
Once you have determined your undertone, you have to go with the colors that suit your undertones. It’s simple – if your skin tone is warm, go for warmer shades like orange, red, etc. If your skin tone is cool, go with colors like purple, blue red, etc.
